Izizwe Dance Studio is excited to announce a summer partnership with Jean Appolon Expressions!

Jean Appolon Expressions (JAE) is a non-profit (501c3) professional dance company located in Boston and Haiti. JAE has been the recipient of several grants and awards and has performed for audiences around the world. Directed by Jean Appolon, JAE combines Haitian and Modern dance techniques to create work that is powerful and dynamic. Along with their impressive repertoire, JAE has inspired communities through dance education and training. For more than ten years, JAE has conducted a summer dance institute in Haiti where hundreds of children have access to high quality dance training for free. For the first time, The Jean Appolon Dance Institute will be offered to young dancers living in the United States. JAE is excited to partner with Izizwe Dance Studio!

Izizwe Dance Studio to Offer Free Summer Dance Classes

For the summer of 2019, youth living in Lawrence, the Merrimack Valley and Greater Boston will experience classes taught by professional dancers, perform for their community, and watch live performances by one of Boston’s most acclaimed Dance Companies, free of charge. Participants will also learn about other cultures through movement and music, while becoming more aware of their own cultural identity through dance. Summer dance programs have been proven to increase physical and mental well being, promote social skills, encourage self esteem, foster discipline, and create opportunities for future training and development in the arts.
